Focus of churches must be the Father

I would like to comment on the article in Sunday’s newspaper labeled, “Counting the flock.”

There was only one mention of the Gospel that I read, which is the truth of what needs to be taught. All of these things mentioned are good — like reaching out to people in need in church and the community. But, there’s one thing missing!

If we do not get from our pastors and leaders the teaching of the message of the cross of Jesus Christ, then we might as well stay home. There is only one way to heaven my friends — that is in repenting of our sins (turning away from sin) and inviting Jesus into our hearts.

Jesus said in John 3:5, “Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.”

Jesus came to earth as the Lamb of God — our sacrifice for eternal life. He shed his blood on the cross and died for ours sins.

Jesus is no longer in the grave, but seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven. Jesus paid the price for our sins! All we have to do is believe and ask forgiveness and invite Him into our hearts and lives. That is how you become “born again.”

John 3:3 says Jesus replied, “Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

So in my opinion, this is what “church” needs to be about — the Father’s business.

Without salvation, we are empty in our hearts and only Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God can give us this free gift.

It cost Him everything, but is a free gift to us. May God bless each and every one of you, and consider making Jesus Lord of your life today.
