Are taxes going to right needs?

The premise for school taxes being levied on the public is that if a community has educated people, these people can find legitimate jobs and stay off of welfare. Having more money and more self-esteem, they are not as likely to participate in criminal activity. You know what? It ain’t working.

We pay taxes to educate them and then we pay more taxes for welfare costs for those who drop out or won’t learn. Many of these losers then go out to rob, steal, kill, etc.

Nearly 50 percent of births in Mississippi are, as Gov. Barbour called them, “illegitimate children.” Clearly, the most prone individuals to crime are from families of unwed mothers. Statistics show that as their numbers rise, crime rises — we see that even in Natchez. (Read the newspaper lately?)

These folks are not afraid of God, so no amount of preaching or praying will stop them. They are not afraid of the law or prison, so they spend their time trying to figure out ways to elude the law — it’s their job.  Sometimes I wonder since the prisons appear to be so soft now that perhaps some criminals are purposely finding ways to go there. Hey, if it doesn’t embarrass you to go to jail, just rob somebody and go get your 3 hots (three hot meals) and a cot (bed to sleep on) plus big-screen TV every day.

I want my school taxes back! I want a special tax levied on unwed parents with illegitimate children. I want a fool-proof program through the health department to give free birth control pills to poor, sexually active adult females and to teens without parental consent. This may all sound crazy to you, but the fact is, something must be done. If you have a better idea, sound off.

I once called one of the “For the Children” organizations and told them that I was not interested in saving the children; they’re toast.  However, I would be interested in contributing to a birth prevention program that would prevent more children from being born into these horrendous conditions.

In conclusion:  I had much rather see my taxes go toward birth prevention than to illegitimate child propagation and dysfunctional schools.
