The Natchez Convention and Visitors Bureau’s new website is now fully functional, and anyone hosting an event in Natchez can now upload information regarding that event on their own.

Event producers can now enter dates, times, cost and a full description of their event through a simple process.

Once the event information is received, it is reviewed for accuracy and completeness, then either approved or denied. If the event is denied, it will most likely be due to grammatical errors or insufficient information, and the person who submitted the event will receive an e-mail notification.

The e-mail will describe what corrections/additions need to be made, and the event can then be re-submitted.

When submitting an event, the more information you can provide in the description box the better. Once an event is approved, it gets placed in the proper calendar category and can be viewed through the “Calendar of Events” menu on www.visitnatchez.org.

The event calendar has categories for community events, designed more for locals looking for weekend fun; annual events, for potential visitors to the city; and city government events for those interested in meetings of a political nature.

Other categories to further describe the event are also available, such as food and beverage, African-American heritage, conventions and music.

To use this feature, go to the website and click on “Things to Do” on the main navigation bar at the top of the homepage, then click on “Calendar of Events” in the menu that appears.

At the bottom of the side navigation bar on the left side of the calendar, you will see “submit events.”

When providing information for an event which targets an audience that will be largely comprised of visitors, be sure to put as much detail as possible and avoid assuming that they already know the ins and outs of the event.

The web has opened up access to the world, so there are always people from markets that have never otherwise been exposed to Natchez that may be taking their first look at all there is to see and do in Natchez.
