This weekend the world is celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday.
Dr. King was the world’s best-known advocate of non-violent protests for equal rights. He was a man who wore many hats. He wanted all people to be treated equally.
This weekend, Natchez will be celebrating Dr. King’s birthday with a number of activities, starting with church events and followed by a banquet, luncheon and parade. Many other neighborhood events will also occur.
The Natchez branch of the NAACP is proud to host its 11th memorial banquet honoring Dr. King. The branch will give awards to members of the community who have continued the struggle and believe in economic justice and human rights for mankind.
The committee has been busy planning for this great event. They believe Dr. King helped change the world.
The MLK Memorial banquet has been slated to be the best one ever.
It will be at 7 p.m. today at the Natchez Community Center. The luncheon will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Convention Center.
The culminating activity will be a parade downtown at 2 p.m.
Mr. Alfred Hunter is the NAACP president.
Come out and join us for all of these events.
