NATCHEZ — Emily Lane has been promoted to the position of features editor at The Natchez Democrat.

Lane, a native of New Orleans, has been working as a reporter at The Democrat covering Adams County since the summer of 2010.

Her new responsibilities will include coordinating feature coverage for the newspaper, managing submissions to the Style and Business sections and reporting on the Natchez-Adams County public and private schools.

Lane earned her bachelor of science degree in journalism from the University of Alabama in 2008. She earned her master’s degree in English from the University of New Orleans in 2010.

Prior to joining The Democrat, Lane worked as an intern for The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C., where she was a writer for the newspaper’s niche publications and covered stories for the metro and features beats.
