Beard and biscuit await Saturday

Can you feel the excitement building? No matter how old we are, Christmas is a special time.
It’s special for children in an almost magical way. My small children hardly even know what it is they’re waiting for, but they sure are excited!
Anticipation, with all the special activities, sentiments, traditions and feelings it brings, might just be more than half the fun of Christmas.
Jefferson Street Preschool’s “Breakfast with Santa” is back again as a not-to-be-missed part of your family’s anticipation of Christmas.
For the third year in a row, teachers, parents and volunteers will be up early this Saturday morning to cook breakfast, set up the photo shoot, glue on Santa’s beard, and swing open the doors for this now annual holiday event.
Santa will be visiting Jefferson Street Church’s Family Life Center, at 511 Jefferson St., from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. This is a great way to give your children or grandchildren the chance to chat with Santa and enjoy a delicious breakfast.
The menu will include sausage biscuits, hash browns, muffins, milk and juice.
The ticket price of $10 covers breakfast and a photo with Santa. Adults who attend with their children only need to buy a ticket if they would also like to eat breakfast. Coffee and muffins will be complimentary for the grown-ups!
We’ll be hosting a Christmas bake sale again, with lots of delicious homemade pies, cakes and cookies available for purchase.
There’s also something new this year. The school has compiled a cookbook with recipes from all the students’ families. These will be available for $8.
This entire event is a fundraiser for the Jefferson Street Preschool.
The proceeds will go to improve the playground. The breakfast is also becoming a wonderful contribution to our community’s Christmas celebrations.
There’s a lot going on in town this weekend. Be sure to start your family’s Saturday with us and Santa at Jefferson Street! So far it’s been a great success, mostly because all the children and families who have come have had a terrific time.
Tickets and more information are available at Jefferson Street Church (601-442-3795) or preschool (601-445-8098). You can also purchase tickets at the door Saturday morning. We look forward to another very special morning this year, celebrating this great Christmas tradition with our families and yours.
