VIDALIA — Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them wear scrubs.

During November, which has been designated National Home Care Month and National Hospice Month, Louisiana HomeCare of Vidalia and Ferriday celebrated its caring, professional employees who go the extra mile in the care of local patients.

The local agency is part of LHC Group, a national provider of home health and hospice services. My Hero Wears Scrubs is a nationwide initiative highlighting the true stories of LHC Group heroes — caregivers like the Texas nurse who gave safe haven to a patient after his home was destroyed by wildfire and the Kentucky nurses whose quick thinking saved a family of four from a lethal gas leak in their home.

“All across the country, our employees put patient care first,” said Don Stelly, LHC Group’s president. “My Hero Wears Scrubs is our way of recognizing these men and women for their extraordinary acts of compassion.”
