NATCHEZ — Leaders from both sides of the river will gather at 6 p.m. today at the Natchez Convention Center to meet, greet and compare a few notes.
The Miss-Lou council of governments event is sponsored by the Miss-Lou regional government relations committee and is the second of its kind.
The group invited area mayors, aldermen and supervisors to gather last year under the umbrella of local regionalism efforts.
Concordia Parish Economic and Industrial Development District Executive Director Heather Malone said the meeting offers officials an opportunity to come together without the pressures of an agenda or schedule.
“The purpose is to get our elected officials together and be able to create that relationship so if something’s going on in one area they can talk about those things and different ideas,” Malone said. “The success of all the different municipalities is a success for the region.”
Malone said the committee hopes to have the meeting quarterly in the future.
