NATCHEZ — Two men, one who was employed at Stine Lumber, were recently arrested for allegedly stealing 120 window air conditioning units from the home store over several months.
Adams County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Stine employee Christopher Cockerham, 26, 67 Cedar Lane, for grand larceny Nov. 3.
Kenneth Brown, 21, 3080 Edgewood Drive, who reportedly aided Cockerham, was arrested Saturday for grand larceny, Sheirff Chuck Mayfield said.
Brown’s bond has been set at $40,000. Cockerham was released on a $1,000 bond.
Mayfield said officials at Stine reported the stolen units to his office in September, but the units had been disappearing gradually over a number of months prior to that.
Mayfield said Cockerham and Brown sold the units on the street.
The total reported value of the units, in actual cost, not retail value, was approximately $28,000, Mayfield said.
