Parish to put ordinances online

VIDALIA — The Concordia Parish Police Jury is going digital.
The jury approved a payment of $4,707.90 for an update of the parish code of ordinances during its regular meeting Monday night.
The payment will make code of ordinances available online.
“It seems like a high price, but it’s definitely worth it,” Jury President Melvin Ferrington said.
In other news from the jury:
• The jury went into executive session for almost an hour to discuss legal strategy about an undisclosed matter.
• Eddie Nugent was appointed as a member of the Concordia Parish Sewer District board.
• The topic of raise request of judges was held until receiving an approved budget.
• A return of $2,000 to the public health fund from the general fund for overpayment of annual maintenance fees was approved.
• The possibility of hiring a grant writer will be put on hold until seeing the budget for the upcoming year.
• The jury will only have one meeting in December.
• A proposal was passed to advertise to clean a lot on West Side Drive.
• A resolution to move the voting precinct 5-5 from Monterey High School to the sheriff’s substation in Monterey was adopted.
• The jury will look into LGAP funding for a pickup truck and a telephone system. The jury was unsure of whether they had already applied for the funding.
• An occupational license was approved for A.J’s automotive shop.
