NATCHEZ — Rod Guajardo recently joined The Natchez Democrat staff as a reporter.

Guajardo served as an intern at The Democrat last December. He graduated Auburn University in May, with a bachelor’s in journalism and minor in Spanish.

In college, Guajardo was editor-in-chief of The Auburn Plainsman, the campus newspaper of Auburn University.

Since May, Guajardo worked as editor of his parents’ Spanish newspaper in Birmingham, Ala., called Paisano Newspaper.

Guajardo graduated from Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham in 2007.

Guajardo said his hobbies are documentary photography and photojournalism. He enjoys traveling, and also playing and listening to music.
