WASHINGTON, D.C. — M. Christopher Brown II, 18th president of Alcorn State University, delivered an address about historically black college Wednesday at the campus of Howard University.

The purpose of the lecture-colloquium was to present a scholar to lecture and discuss issues and problems “incident to the education of black people.”

Brown’s research examines the history and honors the role of HBCUs in American higher education, he is the author, contributing author or editor of several books, including “The Broken Cisterns of African American Education: Academic Performance and Achievement in the Post-Brown Era”; “Black Colleges: New Perspectives on Policy and Practice” and more.
