Library to present classical music

Concordia Parish Library presents for its citizens to enjoy a concert of “Classical Music and a Touch of Something More” presented by musicians from the Piatigorsky Foundation. The Piatigorsky Foundation has been making live classical music part of the fabric of everyday life for communities throughout the United States since 1990.
It is a non-profit organization that presents concerts across the country, often in places where people would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend such performances. Both entertaining and educational, these concerts take place in familiar settings where audience and artist share the joy of live music.
This concert features the talents of Katherine Calcamuggio and David Shimon. Katherine Calcamuggio is an award-winning mezzo-soprano with a talent that distinguishes her as one of the most promising young vocalists on the opera scene today.
She holds a bachelor of music degree from Bowling Green State University and a master of music degree from Northwestern University.
David Shimoni joins her on piano. Mr. Shimoni is returning to Concordia Parish. With two masters degrees from the Juilliard School of music, his piano skills are sure to delight.
Singing songs from such artists as Joplin and Gershwin, these two talented musicians are sure to bring that “Touch of Something More” and fill the air with great music.
Join me and enjoy a night of fabulous music at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Concordia Bank in Vidalia. As always Concordia Parish Library enjoys offering this free opportunity for the citizens of the area.
Sally Gilmore works at the Vidalia library.
