Alcorn State president keynotes conference

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — M. Christopher Brown II, 18th president of Alcorn State University, delivered the opening keynote address at the 2011 Regional Conference for the Western Region Council on Black American Affairs, a division of the American Council on Community Colleges. The conference was this weekend in Las Vegas.

Brown spoke on “Lincoln, Martin, and Obama: A Stage Play in Three Acts” at the College of Southern Nevada on Friday.

Brown discussed how Lincoln, Martin and Obama have played major roles in transforming America’s culture and education.

“These three icons form an American ‘trinity’ on race and citizenship,” Brown said to the audience of more than 200 participants. “Their words and actions embody our nation’s creedal convictions in our 19th, 20th and 21st centuries ambitions to be and become a ‘nation of the people, by the people, and for the people.’”
