NATCHEZ — Lindsey Shelton, a native of Altoona, Ala., joined The Democrat staff last week as a city reporter.

Shelton’s duties will include reporting on the City of Natchez and the local community.

Shelton graduated from the University of Alabama this summer with a degree in journalism and a minor in American studies.

In college, Shelton was the student life editor for The Crimson White student newspaper and a member of the Environmental Council.

Shelton served as an intern at The Tuscaloosa News, The Birmingham News and Birmingham magazine. Shelton was a contributing writer to the Birmingham magazine music blog, Birmingham Box Set.

In her spare time, Shelton enjoys attending concerts and visiting art galleries. She is also a vocalist, for which she earned a music scholarship in 2006. Shelton creates her own mixed media art as well.
