NATCHEZ — Adams County Election Commission Chairman Larry Gardner said no problems have popped up at the polls today so far.
Gardner said he expected less voter turnout at today’s runoff election than at the Aug. 2 primary.
“There’s fewer candidates (in today’s races) and a lower interest level because some (voters) were only interested in particular candidates who either won or lost (Aug. 2),” Gardner said.
Gardner said approximately 200 fewer absentee ballots were cast for today’s election compared to the first primary, in which approximately 700 were cast. Lower absentee participation could be an indicator of lower voter turnout today, he said.
Voter turnout in the Aug. 2 primary was approximately 50 percent.
Polls will be open until 7 p.m.
