NATCHEZ — More than seven pounds of marijuana and 11 ounces of crack and powder cocaine were seized by the Metro Narcotics Unit and Adams County Sheriff deputies at approximately 2 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies are now looking to arrest the person who reportedly lives in the house on 106 Brookfield Drive, where the drugs were located, Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said.
The street value of the seized drugs was between $60,000 and $80,000, Mayfield said.
Anthony D. Smith, 32, reportedly lives in the house that was searched following an undercover investigation.
Also found at Smith’s house were weighing and packaging materials, an SKS assault rifle, two counterfeit $20 bills and other possible stolen property.
Mayfield said a computer at Smith’s house was reportedly stolen from Walmart, where Smith is employed.
A warrant for Smith includes charges of possession of a possession of schedule I controlled substance — marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of a schedule II controlled substance — cocaine with intent to distribute; and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, Mayfield said.
Mayfield said Smith was convicted in 2000 for drug charges.
Receiving stolen property charges are also pending against Smith, Mayfield said, as well as an enhanced charge of intent to distribute controlled substances in a church zone.
Anyone with information about Smith’s location should contact the sheriff’s office at 601-442-2752.
