FERRIDAY — Miss-Lou families looking for fun, food, prizes and an opportunity to give back to their community will have their shot Friday.
The Delta National Rifle Association chapter in Concordia Parish is hosting a banquet at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Concordia Parish Community Center in Ferriday for any Miss-Lou family that wants to attend.
“There are going to be different types of games, drawings, door prizes and silent auctions,” Delta NRA Chairman Charles “Junior” Tarver said. “There are going to be games and prizes for children, women and men.”
Tarver said the NRA hosts a banquet every year as a way to give back to the community.
“It is a family event that is a lot of fun for everyone,” he said. “All the money we make at it will go straight back into the community.”
Tarver said the NRA has helped the community in many ways, including funding for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office shooting range and training center.
“These things help our law enforcement train better,” he said.
Tarver said the NRA has even donated money to area 4-H students and their activities, youth groups and shooting events.
“We take the money we make and try and give back to the community in any way we can,” he said.
Tickets for the banquet are $30 for adults and $15 for youth 15 years old or younger, and Tarver said the tickets can be bought at the door.
“When you get a ticket, you are also getting a steak dinner to go along with that,” he said. “So you get food and fun if you make it out to the banquet.”
Tarver said tickets can also be purchased from any NRA member in the parish.
Tarver said since the event is family oriented, he hopes families decide to bring their children out for a good time.
“We are going to have some good prizes for everyone, especially the children,” he said. “The children are especially invited and included.”
