NATCHEZ — A one-car wreck near U.S. 84 and Hobo Fork Road in Natchez left one Natchez man dead and another injured Saturday night.
Jakarta Lewis, 28, 1152 Martin Luther King Jr. St., was found dead at the scene, and the other individual was airlifted to Jackson.
Adams County coroner James Lee said at approximately 7:45, his office received a call about a one-car wreck on U.S. 84 in which the vehicle had rolled over.
Lee said when he arrived, he found Lewis face down on the ground near the vehicle.
“He was ejected from the vehicle,” he said. “I don’t know if he was wearing a seat belt.”
Lee said Lewis died from severe blunt trauma to the head, neck and chest from the accident.
The second person in the vehicle was not identified, but Lee said he was airlifted to Jackson.
“I don’t know for sure, but they usually go to University Medical Center, because that is the closest trauma center to here.”
Lee said it was tragic to see a such a young life lost.
Lee said the Mississippi Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
