Humane Society needs changes

I can add little to what Vidal Davis said so well in his Top of the Morning comments in The Democrat’s July 28 edition.
My wife and I are longtime supporters of the shelter (misnamed the “humane” shelter. It is anything but that for the poor creatures that must live out their short lives there.)
The fact that the board, which runs it and has run it for so many years, turned down a donation of $100,000 and property on which to build a new shelter is appalling enough. But the board’s refusal to allow anyone else to have a voice in the shelter’s operation is all the reason I need to stop supporting it financially until major changes are made.
