NATCHEZ — Local law enforcement seized 2.2 pounds of cocaine, a pound of marijuana and more than $1,600 from a Natchez man whom remains a fugitive of Adams County.

A warrant has been issued for Kevin “Napoleon” Singleton, 34, 245-A River Terminal Road, after Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Metro Narcotics Unit and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics investigated the case and seized the drugs and money.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said the agencies involved also found stolen property and a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum revolver with the serial number scratched off during the searches of two residences.

One of the residences searched is believed to be where Singleton usually lives, and the other is what Mayfield referred to as a “drop house,” for drug operations.

The sheriff would not provide the location of the searched residences because the investigation is ongoing, he said.

Singleton is currently wanted for receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of attempted possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.

Mayfield said Singleton was recently released from prison and is currently on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Records show Singleton was sentenced in 2003 to 20 years in MDOC for drug charges, Mayfield said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was notified about the found weapon, Mayfield said, because scratching serial numbers from firearms is a federal offense.

Mayfield said the investigation was intended to target high-level drug trafficking, which is often accompanied by recovery of stolen property.

“In attacking the drug trade, we’re also attacking burglaries and theft in our area,” he said.
