FEMA gives $33K

NATCHEZ — A recent tally shows FEMA has distributed $33,778.41 to Adams County residents flooded with financial burdens from high water.

The report from the Federal Emergency Management Agency said $12.7 million has been given to Mississippi River flood victims in 14 counties statewide.

In Mississippi, $9 million was distributed for household and personal needs, $8.5 million was for temporary rental assistance, $3.7 was for homeowner and business loans and $500,000 was for “other needs assistance.”

Wilkinson County residences have received $119,444 from FEMA, and Jefferson County residents have received $3,891.

Counties that have received the most FEMA aid are Tunica County, at $3.9 million; Warren County, at $1.9 million; and Bolivar County, at $1.1 million.

Flood victims can register with FEMA until July 11 by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 800-462-7585, or at www.disasterassistance.gov.

Telephone registration is available between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily.
