Great music is the perfect way to start your summer! Come and enjoy a night of relaxation with the sound of guitar and piano music performed by Carvel Avis and Rod Payne at 7 p.m. today at the Concordia Bank in Vidalia.

Carvel Avis is the founder and president of HotFrets Inc. Mr. Avis earned his bachelor’s degree in music theory and composition with an instrumental major in guitar and cello.

He is known as a versatile player able to fit into any group from rock n’roll to new country to the most sophisticated jazz. He has written several classic guitar pieces and a method book that was used for several years at the university level.

Rod Payne is returning to Concordia Parish as a favorite. He is without question this area’s most visible musician. He performs at corporate events, wedding receptions, dances and society affairs. He also has written numerous jingles, which include Lady Techsters, Neville Tigers, First National Bank and others.

Come and listen as Carvel performs songs from the world’s greatest guitar players, Doc Watson to Les Paul! With Rod on piano, “Over the Rainbow” and “Wonderful World” will never sound the same.

Having tinkered with the guitar for a number of years, I look forward to hearing music of the caliber these gentlemen will perform. Thanks to Concordia Parish Library and Concordia Bank for making this free and open to the public.
