FERRIDAY — The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested three teenagers Wednesday allegedly connected to the May 23 arson of the Miss-Lou Pawn Shop on U.S. 84.
According to reports from the CPSO, the teens, two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old, were charged with simple arson, aggravated burglary and simple burglary.
Ferriday Police Department Assistant Chief Johnny Evans said the three teens were also arrested in connection with a string of burglaries in Ferriday.
Evans said FPD investigator Clarence Hall arrested 18-year-old Charles Anderson, 100 Kyle Road apt. B-16, along with the three juveniles.
Anderson was arrested Friday and charged with four counts of simple burglary by the FPD.
The three other teens were brought in to the FPD Tuesday and were also charged with four counts of simple burglary.
Evans said four homes in Ferriday have been burglarized in the past few weeks.
“It appears these guys have been making their rounds,” he said.
Evans said FPD officers found Anderson and the teens in possession of items missing from the pawnshop, and that during interviews, a few of the teens admitted to being involved with the fire.
Evans said more charges may be filed against Anderson and the teens.
CPSO investigator Phillip Webber said the teens got into the pawnshop by allegedly stealing tools from T&J Small Engine. The teens used the tools to break into Miss-Lou Pawn, which was boarded up in anticipation of possible flooding.
Webber said the suspects tore sheet metal off the back of the pawnshop and kicked a hole in the wall of a separate storage area where they entered.
From there, Webber said the suspects kicked a hole in another wall that allowed them to enter the pawnshop.
After entering the suspects allegedly stole several electronic items before they started a fire in the building and exited the same way they entered.
A major portion of the building was damaged during the fire.
Webber said two of the teens are from Ferriday, and one is from Vidalia.
Webber also noted that two of the teens were already on juvenile probation at the time of the latest arrest.
