BATON ROGUE — Evan Hutchins, a 2005 Natchez High School graduate and architectural student at Southern University in Baton Rogue, received a certificate of recognition from Baton Rogue Mayor Melvin “Kip” Holden at a recent metropolitan council meeting on April 27. Hutchins was recognized for his role in assisting in the development of the Scotlandville Comprehensive Community Development Plan, providing for physical, social and economic conditions of the community for the next 20 years.
Hutchins was inspired to enter the study of architecture by his father, a professional drywall finisher and painter, and by his late maternal grandfather, Albert Morris Evans, who was a licensed contractor who built and remodeled homes and businesses.
Hutchins is the son of Arline and Levi Hutchins of Baton Rogue, and the grandson of Lillie B. Fleming of Natchez.
