NATCHEZ — When it came to keeping a low profile Wednesday, a 20-year-old Natchez man fell asleep at the wheel.

Natchez Police officers arrested Damon Jamal McCoy, 20, 411 Walnut St., Vidalia, for possession of marijuana after finding him passed out in his car on Main Street, a Natchez police report says.

At 11:27 p.m. An officer noticed the car stopped at a traffic light through two cycles of green lights at the intersection of Main and South Union streets before he approached the car, an NPD report says.

After calling dispatch to check the driver’s record, the officer got out of his car to check on the driver.

“Upon checking on the driver I noticed that he was passed out with his foot on the brake,” the report says.

The report says the officer opened the door and smelled burning marijuana at which point he called for backup.

After searching the car and finding a partially smoked “marijuana cigar” in the center console, the officer placed McCoy under arrest.
