NATCHEZ — Natchez Police are looking for the suspect of a purse snatching that occurred Sunday morning outside the Isle of Capri Casino.
A 52-year-old woman reported that she was robbed at 3:50 a.m. as she was walking up Silver Street to leave the casino.
The woman said a middle-aged man came behind her and grabbed her by the neck then forced her into the shadows on the right side of the Silver Street near parked cars. The suspect then ordered her to give him her purse and car keys.
The victim gave the suspect her keys and broke free from him when he grabbed her purse.
The victim also reported the suspect struck her in the mouth when he grabbed her. Police confirmed the victim’s lip was bleeding.
Personal items and $150 cash were reportedly stolen with the victim’s purse.
An NPD officer and an NPD K9 unit conducted a K9 track from the casino up to Madison Street.
NPD questioned suspects who match the victim’s description, but evidence has not been sufficient enough to produce an arrest, NPD Chief Mike Mullins said.
Mullins said anyone with information leading to the arrest of the strong-armed robbery suspect should call Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
