FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man was arrested on charges of kidnapping Tuesday after he allegedly struck his girlfriend and drove off with her in his car.
Larry Louis Edwards, 29, 409 Lincoln Ave., was charged with simple kidnapping, domestic abuse battery and second-degree battery.
Ferriday Police Department Officer Clarence Hall said the police received a call from a motorist Tuesday who told officers she saw the incident.
According to the motorist, Edwards was standing in front of the female victim and snatched the door from her hand.
Hall said Edwards then proceeded to strike the female in her face. She fell to the ground, and Edwards tried to stand her up.
The female was knocked unconscious, and Edwards attempted to stand her up.
When he could not get her to stand on her own, Edwards reportedly grabbed the female, put her in the car and drove away.
Hall said FPD officers went searching for Edwards’ vehicle after the incident was reported, and they found him 15 minutes later driving down Kentucky Avenue.
Hall said officers pulled over Edwards and made the arrest at Kaye’s parking lot.
Edwards is currently in police custody.
