George Freeman Sr.

FERRIDAY — Graveside services for George W. Freeman Sr., 77, known to all as Jim, who lost his battle with leukemia on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in his sleep at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Oakey Cemetery in Gilbert, La., with Casey Young officiating, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Freeman was born July 23, 1933, the son of Bernice Clark and Ester Mae Chandler Freeman.

He married and cherished Elvia Gay Matthews on June 25, 1955. Two sons were born to him, George W. Freeman Jr. of Ferriday and Charles Raymond Freeman of Vidalia. A much beloved grandson, Charles Edward Freeman, was born Sept. 21, 1982.

Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his grandson.

Survivors include, his two sons and George’s fiancée Karen Fletcher and her son Brandon of Ferriday; and one sister, Roseann Dial of Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Donald Moree, Bubba Netherland, Gene Johnson, Kenneth Fitt, Mike McCarty and Bobby Cowan.
