WOODVILLE — Robert Lewis Whitehead Jr., 70, of Woodville, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Field Memorial Community Hospital.

At his request, he was cremated. A gathering was held at his home to celebrate his new life in heaven.

Mr. Whitehead was born Feb. 6, 1941, in Woodville, the son of Robert L. Whitehead and Nina Jones. He was retired from Tembec in St. Francisville, La.

Mr. Whitehead served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Reba; two sons, Robert L. Whitehead III of Woodville and Dr. Matthew Whitehead of Alexandria, La.; one daughter, Roxanne Gardner of Woodville; one sister, Janice Pryor of Bell Buckle, Tenn.; one brother, Jimmy Whitehead of Woodville; and six grandchildren.
