NATCHEZ — Two inmates at the Natchez City jail allegedly beat a third inmate unconscious in the back of a jail cell Saturday, according to a police report.
The victim, Joseph Evans, filed a report with the Natchez Police Department at approximately 3 p.m. The report described the altercation that occurred after the suspects called him a “snitch.”
The report said Billy Malcomb of Decatur Ga., and Steven Robinson of Jackson punched Evans with closed fists until he fell on the floor. The suspects then allegedly repeatedly kicked Evans in the head and body until he was unconscious.
Evans said he remembers waking up to a jailer helping him walk out of the cell where he was assaulted.
The officer who recorded the report said he observed swelling on the right side of the victim’s face and on his lips.
Evans said he is willing to prosecute.
