RIDGECREST — Whether it is a group of numbers, letters or puzzle pieces, 10-year-old Cedric Robinson knows how to put it together.
Robinson was recently selected as Ridgecrest Elementary School’s fifth-grade student of the year.
“I was surprised that I won,” he said.
Robinson said he always gets As and Bs in school and hopes to continue getting such good scores.
“I want to finish school so I can get my education,” he said. “I like doing well.”
Robinson said he loves math and spelling more than any other subjects.
“I like working with numbers,” he said. “If I get better at spelling, I can learn to spell words for the LEAP test.”
Robinson said he always has his mom’s help with homework if he needs it.
“She always wants to know if I need help doing anything,” he said.
Robinson has three siblings and said he tries to help his 4-year-old brother out whenever he can.
“I try and help him with his homework too if he needs it,” he said. “I try to help him do well.”
If he’s not doing homework or going to school, Robinson said you can find him putting together 500-piece puzzles.
“I am almost done with another one,” he said. “I love putting together the puzzle pieces.”
Puzzles of cats, flowers and lighthouses have all been completed by Robinson, who said he also enjoys playing pitcher for his baseball team.
“I like the rules of the game,” he said. “I also like gathering together with my friends.”
Robinson is also reporter for the 4-H at Ridgecrest, and said he enjoys the responsibility of the position.
“I get to take notes at all the meetings on what is going on,” he said. “I also get to talk at the meetings, and I like talking.”
Even at the age of 10, Robinson said he knows what he wants to do with his life.
“I want to be a pharmacist so I can know how to give the right amount of medicine to people,” he said. “They help people get well.”
Robinson is the son of Frederick Robinson and Phaedra Burns.
