Dog bones, chew toys and long walks were added to Santa’s list Saturday as area residents left their children at home and brought their dogs to see Santa at the Natchez Mall.

The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society’s annual pet picture day with Santa fundraiser was sponsored by the Natchez Mall, with the proceeds going to NACHS.

“We’re very glad to do this every year,” Natchez Mall manager Marie Lofton said.

In years past, the Natchez Mall fundraiser event has raised up to $2,000 for NACHS, and after only an hour of being open Saturday morning, Lofton and NACHS board members Susan Mingee and Teresa Busby were hopeful they would raise that much this year.

“We’re blessed to have this event every year,” Mingee said.
