NATCHEZ — Circuit Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders recused herself Tuesday from hearing the guilty pleas of two men accused stealing 14 computers from the Boys & Girls Club of Miss Lou.
Maurice Pullins, 26, 47 Emerald Mound Road, James J. Fields, 18, No. 2 Old Highway 84 No. 1, allegedly stole 14 computers from the club’s headquarters on Homochitto Street, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
Pullins was charged with possession of stolen property. Fields was charged with burglary of a business.
Sanders is a board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Miss Lou. She recused herself due to conflict of interest because of her ties to the organization, Assistant District Attorney Walt Brown said.
The case was transferred to Judge Forrest “Al” Johnson.
In an unrelated case from last week, charges of uttering a forgery were ordered nolle prosequi, or unwilling to be prosecuted, for two women accused of trying to manufacture and use fake $20 bills at The Donut Shop in September 2009. Federal prosecutors have moved the case to Louisiana.
The women allegedly also tried to pass off the fake bills in Ferriday and Vidalia.
Antwynette Dunbar, 27, 100 Kyle Road, Ferriday, and Larissa Roshea Young, 29, 1012 Cole St., Jonesville, will be prosecuted in Louisiana for the counterfeit money incident.
