NATCHEZ — Team Boobapalooza may be dressed all in pink, but what they really need is green.

Team Boobapalooza, made up of seven local women, is raising money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation through the 3-Day for the Cure walk.

Team members must raise a minimum of $2,300 each before the 60-mile walk begins Nov. 5 in Dallas. The distance is divided over three days of walking.

The team is beginning its final fundraising push with a PinkROCKS benefit concert from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bowie’s Tavern. A minimum $10 donation will be accepted at the door.

Team Boobapalooza members will be taking up the donations at the door.

Gypsy Blood and the Wedding Crashers will both be playing.

Team Boobapalooza captain Christy Anderson said the event should be a fun time for friends to get together and listen to good local music.

“Natchez is one of those towns where everyone likes to go out,” Anderson said.

Team Boobapalooza is made up of Anderson, LaWanda Baskin, Amanda Criswell, Lara Griffiths, Jessi Knight, Marcia McCullough, Melissa Serio and Heather Smith.

The team fundraising goal is $20,000, but Anderson said she will be pleased when each team member reaches the $2,300 minimum.

“Last year fundraising went so well, I thought we wouldn’t have any trouble this year,” Anderson said. “I think people are just having a tough time. I’m really hoping these last few things catch on.”

The team is also hosting a garage sale on Saturday, Oct. 2. Anderson said donations of furniture, clothes or other items to be sold in the yard sale are being accepted now.

The yard sale will be from 7 a.m. until at L.J. Denny and Sons at 5558 U.S. 84 in Vidalia.

“Anyone who has anything to donate can call me,” Anderson said. “I can tell them where to drop it off or come pick it up.”

Anderson can be reached at 601-807-5844.

The team also has T-shirts for sale for $20 each.

A pink Southern Belle shirt has been designed for ladies and a black T-shirt is available for guys, Anderson said.

“Concordia Bank sponsored all of our T-shirts,” Anderson said. “So we can donate all of the proceeds from the shirts. That was such a big help.”

T-shirts will be on sale beginning Friday.

Donations can also be made on the team Web site at www.the3day.org/goto/boobapalooza.
