NATCHEZ — Jamon V. Williams, 17, will be tried as an adult for allegedly delivering a fatal strike to John “Body Man” Henderson on Madison Street in September 2009.
Williams was transferred to youth court May 27 after a grand jury indicted him for manslaughter.
Adams County Youth Court Judge John Hudson ordered the transfer of Williams to circuit court this week to be tried as an adult after a transfer hearing took place.
Although Williams was 16 years old at the time of the crime, he faced the grand jury as an adult because children older than 13 can be charged as an adult for capital offenses, such as murder.
Because the grand jury indicted him for manslaughter — not murder — he was transferred to youth court to be tried as a minor in May.
