NATCHEZ — The rematch between the Natchez and Franklin County 12-year-old All-Star teams will have to wait.
Heavy rain showers Thursday evening forced the postponement of Thursday’s sub-district tournament game between the two teams.
The game was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., but the rain started at about 5:45 p.m., and never let up over the next two and a half hours, forcing the postponement.
The game will now be played at 6 p.m. today at Carroll-Jones Field in Duncan Park.
Natchez defeated Franklin County 3-1 on Wednesday night, meaning Natchez is the only team in the tournament still undefeated.
Should Natchez defeat Franklin County today, they would move into Saturday’s championship game against Summitt, which would have to beat Natchez twice to win the tournament.
However, should Franklin County defeat Natchez, that would put Franklin County, Natchez and Summitt all with one loss, and the three teams would have to draw to see which one of them would advance to the championship game.
The other two teams would play Saturday for the right to advance to the title game, which would be Monday night.
