NATCHEZ — Natchez Police are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting a 66-year-old woman on Greenwood Lane Tuesday.
Police Chief Mike Mullins said a black male believed to be in his early 20s entered the victim’s house at 2:27 a.m. Tuesday, went into the victim’s bedroom, removed the victim’s underwear and inappropriately touched her.
Mullins said the victim was not physically harmed.
“According to the victim, (the attacker) said he was not going to hurt her,” Mullins said. “He had on dark clothes with a mask on his face.”
According to the victim’s report, her attacker left the house and “didn’t take a thing,” Mullins said.
Police believe the man might be linked to another incident that occurred at 1:32 a.m. Tuesday on Briarwood Road.
A complainant spotted a black male believed to be in his early 30s unscrewing a security light bulb outside the complainant’s house.
“When (the suspect) saw the complainant, he ran on foot,” Mullins said.
The complainant said the suspect is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.
“We’re investigating these incidents as being possibly connected, but we don’t have evidence they are,” Mullins said.
Anyone with information regarding the incidents is urged to call the Natchez Police Department at 601-445-5565.
