NATCHEZ — An early morning shooting sent one woman to jail and one man to the hospital.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting that occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Sonya Irene Robertson, 28, 16 Sheppard Road, was arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with aggravated assault/domestic violence. No bond has been set.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said his office is still early into the investigation.

“We are still investigating and interviewing,” Mayfield said. “We are trying to track down people that were at the house and get witness statements from them. We’ll have more information when we can talk to the witnesses.”

The male victim was airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson, but Mayfield said his condition is unknown at this time.
