NATCHEZ — Today, Natchez Community Hospital will honor 84 ordinary Miss-Lou women whom others deem extraordinary.
The third annual Caring Women luncheon and program will begin at noon at the Vidalia Convention Center. The invitation-only event boasts a guest list of 180 people, Natchez Community Patient Advocate Sue Loy said.
“(The crowd) almost doubles what we’ve had in the past,” Loy said.
Loy said the nominees will receive a certificate as well as the nomination letter written about them.
“We spent the month of January asking people for nominations of special people around them, and we received lovely stories about basic people,” Loy said. “We here at the hospital care for people every day, but we know there are lots of wonderful women who live in the community who are doing extraordinary things for others.”
Loy said five of the 84 nominees will be honored in the following categories — leadership, perseverance, mentor, defender and promise.
The recipients of those rewards will receive a framed print of the Turning Angel monument, which Natchez Community has adopted as the Caring Women Angel, Loy said.
Event registration will begin at 11:45 a.m.
