NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was shot in the neck Wednesday during a game of dice at Holiday Apartments on Old Washington Road.
Lorenzo Green, 25, No. 2 Phillips Lane, was rushed to Natchez Regional Medical Center and transported to University Medical Center in Jackson, where he is resting comfortably.
“I’m alright,” Green said.
Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said Thursday officers were dispatched to Holiday Apartments after receiving a “shots fired” call at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday. As officers approached the scene, Green ran toward the officers and told them he had been shot.
Green said he didn’t get a good look at his shooter, who was wearing a black hood and a ski mask, according to Green.
“I opened the door and the gunshot came through and hit me in the neck,” Green said. “(The bullet) went in and out.”
Mullins said no arrests have been made, but the NPD is investigating one suspect.
“We believe (Green and the shooter) had a prior altercation several weeks ago before the dice game,” Mullins said.
Green was injured in a shooting at the intersection of Beaumont Street and Woodlawn Avenue in July 2008. He was shot twice in the upper body, according to police reports.
