NATCHEZ — A 52-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a mentally handicapped individual.
Roberto Salinas, who resides at the Terrace Motel on U.S. 61 North, is charged with one count of molestation. Police Chief Mike Mullins said Friday Salinas is being held without bond in Natchez City Jail.
Mullins alleges Salinas molested a 20-year-old mentally handicapped man in the restroom of a local business. The victim claims Salinas touched him inappropriately.
The incident was reported at 4:50 p.m. Thursday.
In an unrelated incident, police charged a 19-year-old inmate Thursday with felony escape.
Broderick Randall Dunbar, 111 Horseshoe Lane, was being held in Natchez City Jail on charges of grand larceny when the alleged escape occurred Wednesday.
“(Dunbar) was in the booking area, and when the detention officer was distracted, (Dunbar) was able to push a button that opens the rear gate and he ran out of the gate,” Mullins said.
“(Dunbar) was caught right behind the police station by two officers in the parking lot.”
Dunbar, who is being held without bond, was arrested earlier this month in connection with stealing copper coils from air conditioning units at Conrad Anderson Company on D’Evereux Drive.
