NATCHEZ — Six Natchez houses deemed beyond repair will be demolished as time permits, City Building Inspector Paul Dawes said.
“There is no timetable (for the demolitions),” Dawes said. “We’ll get to them as soon as we can.”
The Natchez Board of Aldermen approved the demolitions during a work session this month. The house addresses are:
5 Lincoln St.
20 Jasmine Court
20 October St.
22 S. Concord Ave.
22 Claiborne St.
106 Bluff St.
Dawes said asbestos was found in the house located at 22 Claiborne St. The asbestos was removed earlier this month, greenlighting the house for demolition. Dawes said the public works department will oversee the demolitions.
The aldermen also voted to board up two houses at 25 St. Catherine St., and 27 St. Catherine St., and authorized grass cutting and weed removal at the following addresses:
3 Lincoln St.
8 Grant St.
44 Lumber St.
2 Lumber St.
425 Grant St.
500 Broadway St.
502-506 Canal St.
17 Zoa St.
26 Zoa St.
105 Fletcher St.
106 Fletcher St.
106 Bluff St.
106 St. Catherine St.
307 Johnson St.
2904 Camp St.
1109 Sunset Blvd.
Like the demolitions, Dawes said the public works department will address the additional work when they can.
