Mayfield turns in campaign finance reports

NATCHEZ — Tuesday was the deadline for campaign finance reports for the two remaining candidates for Adams County sheriff, but only one candidate has turned in his paperwork.
Chuck Mayfield reports receiving an additional $21,725 between Oct. 25 and Nov. 14, bringing his total amount of campaign contributions to $47,665.94.

Ray Brown did not turn in a pre-runoff report and could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Mayfield spent $12,217.98 in the last period and $36,401.89 total.
The majority of Mayfield’s donations are under $1,000, but Natchez businessman David Paradise contributed $2,000 this period and $7,000 to date.
Candidate Randy Freeman, who finished third to Brown and Mayfield in the Nov. 3 general election, also turned in his termination report.
Freeman reported receiving $1,250 between Oct. 25 and Nov. 14, and $30,900 total.
He spent $3,795.52 in the most recent period and $30,469.33 total.
The election is Nov. 24. Absentee voting is ongoing in the circuit clerk’s office from 8 to 5 p.m. through Friday and from 8 to noon Saturday.
