Concordia Nationals eliminated from tourney

VIDALIA — The Concordia Nationals were eliminated from the Dixie Youth 7-8-year-old machine pitch district tournament Wednesday night with a 14-7 loss to Catahoula.

Concordia batted in the top of the first inning and took a quick 2-0 lead.

However, Catahoula bounced back with five runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.

Catahoula added two runs in the bottom of the second inning, three more in the third and four more in the fourth.

Concordia could only muster one run in the top of the third inning and four in the top of the fourth.

Jacob Bourgeois scored two runs for Concordia Nationals while Landon Davis, Coleman McGivren, Jared Simpson, Tyson Jenkins and Brandon Thompson scored one run apiece.

Braxton Tiffee, D.J. Long, Jacob Spinks and Breelyn Lee all scored two runs for Catahoula.

Avery Smith, Brennan Lippman, J.D. Long, Caleb Jenkins, Davis Paul and Noah Odem also scored runs in the winning effort.

Catahoula survived that elimination game and will play another one at 6 p.m. today against Winnsboro Americans.

While the Concordia Nationals were eliminated Wednesday night, the Concordia Americans are undefeated and will play Winnsboro Nationals in a winners bracket game at 7:30 today.

All games are being played at the Vidalia Baseball Complex.
