NATCHEZ — A domestic dispute ended in a shooting and an arrest early Thursday morning.
Katrina Louise Johnson was transported to University Medical Center in Jackson at approximately 3 a.m. after being shot on North Circle Drive at approximately 1:15 a.m.
Johnson was reportedly driving her vehicle, picking up her niece, Jennifer McGowen.
McGowen called her aunt after a verbal argument with McGowen’s boyfriend, Thomas Oliver Jr., Natchez Police Lt. Justin Robinson said.
“She wasn’t comfortable staying with her boyfriend,” Robinson said.
McGowen was riding in Johnson’s car, leaving the scene when three shots were fired.
One bullet entered through the driver-side window and hit Johnson right below the left shoulder blade, Robinson said.
Oliver was reportedly in the front yard of the house as the women were driving off. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with extreme indifference to human life.
No bond has been set.
As the shooting occurred, Johnson’s foot hit the accelerator, crashing into a light pole, Robinson said. Electricity to much of the Roselawn area was out after the accident. Entergy crews were on the scene Thursday morning.
A 16-year-old was also in the car at the time of the shooting.
Police have recovered the weapon.
