A very busy bass tournament season continues this month.

The Zeke West Memorial will be held on Lake Bruin out of the State Park Landing Feb. 28.

Zeke, an 18-year-old avid sportsman, was killed in a traffic accident in November on the way to his hunting camp.

A scholarship is set up at Warren Central High School in Zeke’s name for any senior going to college in the outdoor field. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the fund.

On March 21, the National Guard 1087th Transportation Company and Eddie’s Marine and Tackle will host an open team bass tournament on Lake Concordia.

This is a unique event with two separate divisions. One is open to all, and the fee is $120 per team. The first 14 places will be paid in the open division, and the first place team will take home $2,000.

In the Military Division, the entry fee is $50 per team. At least one contestant from each team must be a member (retired or active) of any branch of the military. You can enter both divisions.

We will launch from Lakeview Lodge on Lake Concordia.

Plans are to make this an annual event so please support our troops and participate in this one.

The 25th Annual Lake Providence Open Team Bass Tournament will be March 28. This event is open to anyone.

Last weekend some really big bass made a move to shallow water. Some huge fish were caught from Lake Concordia during a small club event.

John Bruce won the event with a very impressive 5-bass limit weighing 26.80 pounds. Bruce also won the big bass money with a kicker weighing 8.88 pounds. Randy Pitre had a good day as well, weighing in 5 at 20.20 pounds for second place. Alan Brumfield placed third with 19.70 pounds.

The shallow bite may slow down a bit this weekend. A cold front came through and water temperatures dropped a few degrees. You can still catch some nice bass but you may have to slow your lure presentation down to a crawl.
