NATCHEZ — In business for little more than a year, the newly opened Hampton Inn on South Canal Street is for sale.
LoopNet.com, a commercial property web site, has the property listed for $8.6 million.
Dr. Shailesh Vora, the hotel’s owner, refused to comment on the sale Friday.
The Hampton’s General Manager Rhonda Stevens said she was not aware the hotel was on the market.
“I haven’t heard anything official,” Stevens said.
Stevens said the hotel is currently up to 80 percent full.
And while Stevens said she’d rather the hotel be running at full capacity, December through February are typically slow months.
“But business is good,” she said.
Vora is also currently leasing land on the Vidalia riverfront with plans to build a Holiday Inn.
However, construction on that project has not started.
And Vora’s hotel isn’t the only one in town for sale.
The Eola is also listed on LoopNet.com for $5.9 million.
While the hotel is listed for sale, Eola General Manager Ron Brumfield said the hotel is not being “actively marketed.”
“It’s just basically out there. He’s not aggressively moved to sell,” Brumfield said of the hotel’s owner Bob Dean.
Dean could not be reached for comment.
Brumfield said while he believes hotel business in Natchez is generally down, he does not believe it’s the reason the Eola is on the market.
