VIDALIA — Six people were arrested Thursday on allegations they tried to smuggle music CDs, a cell phone and marijuana into a local prison.

The plan was first detected after a correctional officer saw someone toss a fast food bag containing two CDs, a cell phone and charger and several bags of marijuana from a car into a correctional facility dumpster before speeding away Jan. 1, according to a statement from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

After developing information from inmate phone call records, a security camera and the vehicle’s description, CPSO Narcotics Task Force Director Lt. Greg Jackson was able gather enough information to lead to the arrest of five Tensas Parish residents and the rebooking of a River Correctional Facility inmate, the statement said.

Davis is reportedly Scott’s girlfriend, and Lopez and Richard Scott are reportedly his cousins, the statement said.

The matter is still under investigation.
