This year’s show will offer a wide variety of dealers, including china and silver experts, period furniture, paintings and even fur coats.

Local event organizer Leigh Anne Mason said the show is comparable to ones in larger cities.

“I’ve been to the antiques show in Jackson and ours compares well to it,” Mason said. “We’ve have grown each year.”

Patty Edwards, event promoter from New Era Promotions, said an onsite glass grinder who will be repairing cracked and chipped pieces of glass, china and pottery is new this year.

“He will be doing glass grinding, pottery repair, resilvering and other sorts of restoration during the weekend,” Edwards said. “And it is my understanding that he will take larger projects back to Baton Rouge to restore.”

A popular appraisal segment is returning to this year’s show, and will take place from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. today.

Anyone who has purchased a weekend ticket can bring an item from their personal collection to be appraised by a dealer at the show.

The weekend will also feature three antiques seminars. The first will be at 2 p.m. today on Blue Willow china and period furniture. Others will take place at 11 a.m and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Tickets for the antiques show and sale are $5 for the weekend and can be purchased at the door.
